The field of journalism has seen vast expanses and development in past 20 years. Students who could not think much beyond a career in a newspaper or rarely a television channel in the yester years have a wide array of career options today. The Indian Entertainment and Media sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the economy, thanks to the advancement of India as a IT hub and the involvement of media in every aspect of today’s modern living, right from responsibility to brand building to advertising and the new media. All this has not only changed the perception of the people towards journalism as a career but has also increased the demand for competent media persons well versed in latest communication technologies.
Keeping all this in view the faculty and the students of Mass Communication and Journalism department of S.D.M. College, Ujire have organized a two day conference on “Careers in Media” on the 26th and 27th of March, 2010. The participants of this conference will have the opportunity to attend a series of sessions and openly discuss about the working of the media industry and explore their area of interest.
